While many elements of the Incubator are still under development, this site reflects the major strides that have been taken in the past few months to bring it into existence, with active client and partnership relationship. Our blog provides a vehicle to chronicle the Incubator’s development, and hint at some of the tangible possibilities that are ahead of us. The reality is the work of many individuals: a core management group, a broad advisory group, a dynamic and diverse base of client companies, and an extensive and growing network of resources to serve them and help them grow into a force for powerful change.
The challenges we face today are global in scope, but the solutions remain concrete and must be addressed immediately. It is not enough to sign treaties and pass legislation; technologies must be developed, commercialized, and scaled to address the needs of the planet. Companies must be conceived, launched, and sustained until they are viable, generating engines of social, economic, and environmental transformation. If the predictions of even the most cautious scientific observers are credible, we are already facing important climatic changes. The reality, then, is that we must halt and begin to reverse trends that are occurring on an unprecedented planetary scale, and require a response on an unprecedented scale.
The main concern of this commentary, therefore, is with the development of a sustainable economy, and with the ways we are contributing to it on an ongoing basis.
